Camilla's story

Pets Pets Pets and Nature's Variety up with The Shepherd's Flock to feed Camilla

Meet Cammie!

A few weeks ago, Cammie was found curled up in a snowbank. Skinny and dehydrated, it was clear that she had been stray for a while and seemed to be surviving by eating snow. Sadly, Cammie's story gets only more depressing.

In addition to having been homeless, Cammie is suffering from a large, rapidly growing tumor on her jaw. Vivacious and very well behaved, we can only imagine that Cammie was abandoned, "thrown out," due to the way her tumor has disfigured her face or because her owners were unwilling to pay for her treatment.

Left untreated, Cammie's tumor will grow so large that she will no longer be able to eat. Fending for herself, she would have starved to death. For those of us who know her enthusiasm for life, this is an extremely disturbing thought.

Cammie has had a full veterinary evaluation. With exception to the tumor, she is a healthy and joyful soul. Our veterinarians believe that radiation treatment will significantly shrink the tumor, allowing Cammie to live out her senior years in comfort.

Now with the help of Pets Pets Pets and Nature's Variety she will be eating a healthy diet of Nature's Variety raw frozen chicken. The food will be donated by Nature's Variety and Pets Pets Pets, we hope that this improvement in her diet will help in the effort to extend Camilla's life and well being.

Please visit The Shepherds Flock's web site at The Shepherd's Flock.net for more information on the sanctuary and their efforts to help Camilla and other homeless animals, and to see how you can help Camilla.

May 18, 2010 and update. I saw Cammie at the Doggie Daze on Saturday and she was doing well. She has finished her radiation, they did have to take out six teeth and she has been wearing a pain patch but is back to eating her Nature's Variety and she is doing well.
